Managing Editor

The position of Managing Editor is a fantastic opportunity to work closely alongside the Editor-in-Chief and our large editorial staff. The Managing Editor will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks of running the magazine by managing the submission database, sending out receipts, and arranging editor commentary. The Managing Editor may also be responsible for occasional projects. 

It is essential that this person be extremely organized, self-motivated, timely, and willing to work hard. The ability to excel under pressure and time commitments is a necessity. We expect that you are an articulate and capable writer. This position requires 2-5 hours per week and can be virtual.

The duties of a Managing Editor include:

  • Manage the online submission database by inputting new submissions

  • Responsible for mailing confirmation receipts, acceptance letters, and rejection letters

  • Coordinate assignment of submissions to the editorial staff

  • Responsible for compiling editor feedback on submissions

This position will be offered on a 2-week trial basis with training. At this point, this is a volunteer position.

Editorial Assistant (Literary) 

The position of Editor Assistant is a great opportunity for an individual who is interested in pursuing a future career as an editor or interested in acquiring more editorial experience. This Editorial Assistant will serve the Editor-in-Chief in making editorial decisions, crafting in-house edits, and choosing work to publish in the print journal and on the website. This position is a perfect opportunity for someone who is passionate about editing and would like to learn more about the process. The time commitment of this position will vary—typically, work will be heaviest through November-April and light during the rest of the year. 

It is essential that this individual is well-read in a variety of genres and is committed to the Siblíní mission. In addition, any individual applying for this position must be passionate, articulate, and willing to voice an opinion. This position can be combined with the Managing Editor or Social Media Manager position as well.   

Duties of Editorial Assistant include:

  • Discuss final decisions on pieces with Editor-in-Chief

  • Craft in-house edits alongside Senior Editors and Editor-in-Chief

  • Manage/create any editorial projects that the Editor-in-Chief needs assistance with

Social Media/Blog Manager

The position of Social Media Manager is a wonderful opportunity for an individual who is passionate about art, writing, and media. This position will be responsible for managing Siblíní’s social media profiles, crafting relevant content, and cultivating a newsletter. This person will also be expected to manage blog content. 

This position requires a person who is technically-savvy and has experience in the realm of social media marketing. Exceptional writing and editorial skills are required, as well as the ability to manage projects, stay organized, and showcase leadership skills. We would like this person to be able to develop projects and content to consistently keep Siblíní’s web presence fresh and up-to-date. 

Duties of Social Media Manager include:

  • Manage blog content with the help of the Editor-in-Chief

  • Management of Facebook, Twitter, and Blog

  • Cultivate a newsletter

Junior & Senior Editors

For Siblíní to thrive, we rely on the tremendous support of an incredible editorial team. From India to England, our editors are passionate about working with other young artists and writers.

Although you do not need any previous editing experience, all Siblíní editors must be:

  • passionate about art and/or writing (whichever interest you are applying for)

  • knowledgable about art and/or writing (whichever interest you are applying for)

  • able to provide constructive, respectful criticism and feedback

  • able to articulate your thoughts concisely and expertly

  • able to spend time working on multiple submissions in a submission season (exceptions apply)

  • willing to accept feedback to improve your own editing skills from higher-ranked editors
